This is my first attempt at being "experimental"

I was inspired by drstawl and Slackmaster2k. Please don't let that be a bad reflection on them.

Trying to break the rules of music is hard. I tried to do it and nothing came of it.

I finally just said "What the fuck" and rolled tape. I know this is crap, and please, only download it if you have the time on your hands... It is really not worth it.

The song is called "Bossa Foggy"

And if anyone can figure out why I titled it that way, well, you win a date with my mom.

Wait, I screwed up. For some reason, this song is not coming up on IUMA.

Let me unfuck the situation...

I'll let you know when it is up.

Sorry.

Jimmy Stewart in a decompression chamber halucinating..."I've got a new kind of shhhhhoda"....I had a mental image picture of you turning knobs like that wizard of oz guy behind the curtain.....help, toto's not breathing.....getting ...foggy.....foggy.....:D

Hey those squealing guitar licks in the background were kinda sweet...this was cool....gibs

Very clean. Like the distant sound you get on the distorted guitar especially the rhythm, very cool. Good sounding toms. Could hear that in a TV or Film, probably not a Coke commercial though. Cool stuff.

Proud Papa responds

No: I didn't hear anything I'd be bummed about spawning.
There were a few spots where it sounded like you clipped the fuck out of it but didn't really.
(1:33 and other places)
I don't know if that was your intent or not.

Thanks for listening guys!

I'm glad that it somehow was interesting to listen to.

I was really surprised at the comments. I thought I would be told to not waste your time...:)

This song has some strange history. Last week, when I devoted myself to doing something experimental, I tried too hard, like I said.

Then I decided to write stuff down during the day. I made a list. I decided to pull that list out when I did the impromptu vocal tracks for this thing.

The list read:

Bossa Nova (Luis died)

Sierra Mist (cool new soda, not too sweet)

It would suck to be down deep in the ocean, in one of those little pods that explore shipwrecks, and run out of oxygen. Or in a Russian sub, for that matter. No more breath. Shit - lights out.

When people have a medical emergency, condition, etc, that deprives their brain of oxygen, why, when they regain consciousness in the hospital, do they hallucinate and think that they really need to get home at that very moment? (Happened to my dad a few years ago)

Bossa Nova - D/L'ed some tunes - these guys know how to get in the pocket.

End list.

So that is what I drew from.

Thanks again for the kind words! I will try to do better next time.

Haha! Damn dude this is pretty cool! Kinda goofy and kinda freaky at the same time!

"If someone walks in right now they'll think I'm freakin crazy" :)

I really like the 'inside a seashell' sound you got on the background vocals. How did you do that exactly?

If you need more inspiration for weirdness check out http://www.mp3.com/whitehouse

Anyway, you've reinspired me to do even more experimental stuff after I finish off some other stuff. (I wonder at what point music becomes un-experimental?)

At any rate, good job man!

Slackmaster 2000

I concede with Slack's review. Almost excellent. You just lacked a bit of confidence in your experiment. Great concept!

Thanks again for listening. When I saw the "Proud Papa" reply from doc, I damned near cried. Thank you!

Slack - Thanks for listening, I know this doesn't hold a candle to your stuff. I am honored that you took a listen and I did check out some stuff at that whitehouse mp3 site - dude, I did not need to be disturbed any more than I already am. Those guy(s) are way beyond sick and disturbed. The song "Baby" just about wrecked me. It broke me down a little more than I have already been broken down.

Thanks for listening Rats, I thought you hated me.

That is all I can type for now, the back medication is kicking in...

Brad

Damn sounds like you been doing this sorta stuff for years Brad. At any rate you got a good start on this type stuff. After listening to Slack, doc, and you hell I might venture off into something like this, I know I'm getting tired of doing the same ole crapp day after day. Very good work on this! Okay the reason you named this "Bossa Foggy" is you woke up in the wee hours with this track in your head and tried to put this down but...your head was still a bit foggy from that fish and red wine you consumed a while back?

What time do I pick her up?

Cool stuff Brad. I love that effect on the background vocals where it comes through clear, like on "oxygen"... and then the "you can't even spell it" background part right after that. The other vocal part almost imitates a heavy guitar riff at times when you are repeating Bossa Nova faster and makes for a heavier sound without even having the guitar be there. Great. I agree with Emeric that this could be in a commercial for something. Those are some very clean percussion sounds.

I gave it a listen, Brad. This one's out there for sure. I agree that I could invision this on a commercial. Cool stuff
