my cdrw drive has become noisey . It stops playing also. i've reinstalled the s/card fresh format of windows too.
I've tried to update firmware but nothing seems to work.
It's like is is conflicting with something.
Anyone had simular problem?
This sucks cause i like to listen to music when i'm on the pc..
I did get a blue screen ,said something about 'reinstall windows setup'.
it's an a-open cdrw 2440.
Only thing different recently is i have an external zip drive.
it did do it before that as far as i can remember but not as often..
it is currently running off the windows driver which all my cd drives have done in the past. It will even do it at times when there is no other apps running.

Yeah, time for a new drive. I've owned a couple Pioneer trayless CD-ROM/DVD drives and they usually start to crap out after a couple years.

I have CDROM drives bite the dust monthly. It's a bummer but they're cheap. My step-daughter recently picked up a Sony 32x16x52 CDRW drive for $80.

oh stuff it my burner is only about 2 months old.
mind you it does seem to burn ok. It just hates playing audio cd's:mad:

Ah...my Sony CD Burner doesn't play CD's very well either. I get crackles and pops big time. I just don't use it for playing CD's anymore :(

Wow, I'm so helpful!

blue screen error

i managed to get a blue screen error so I wrote down what it said-------

Invalid VxD link call AFL(01)+ 000019 F6 to device "4103" Service 2.
Your windows configuration invalid. Run the windows setup program again to correct this problem.

Does anyone know what all that means?

I'll put it in another post maybe i'll get lucky:)

Well does this happen only when you're playing audio CDs?

What is the program you're using to play the CDs?

What operating system, and what is the configuration of your system?

well i found out i get the blue screen when i press eject.
i have three partitions and it does it on all of them. windows media player.the isis media player that came with the sound card..
winamp seems to run better than the others, however it still is crackly(not as much on winamp Though)..
Yeah it is only when playing Audio cd's
If i right click eject in my computer or press the eject button it will eject with no problem..
I did a fresh install of windows and it didn't make any diffrence..

Pent III 550mhz
256 mb ram
80gig + 60gig hdd both 7200rpm
windows 98SE
dma checked on all drives,I tried without-no difference.

The audio partition has no virus or anything(very clean)
and it even does it on that..

When i do put a cd in it revs up really high and doesn't stop.
I don't remeber it running so fast just to play cd's.
I tried some different drivers for the d-drive but nothin'....
