Crackling coming out of my monitors

I hope this is the right group to post this in. I am using a Delta66/Omni Studio setup with Yamaha MSP3 monitors. Everytime I record something (SONAR 2.0X or Cool Edit Pro2.0) I get a cracking distorted noise while I am playing. I have heard this was a problem for some but after some searches on the boards I couldnt come up with anything.

Anyone help me out?

I've got a Delta 1010 and have experienced the same thing when the hardware settings (master clock) were set to S/PDIF while the input was analog. Same with a funky choice of sample rate.
