Countryman vs. Sans Amp Bass DI

Hmm, well IMO the SansAmp Bass Driver DI and the RBI are really tube amplifier emulators... whereas the PSA is more of a modeler.
 
i got a whole page of settings that say things like this is an eddie vanhalen sound or an ad/dc sound. it just doesnt say this is a jcm-800. im only talkig about the original sans amp. again iyts supposed to give you the recorded sound of an amp to tape. call it what you want.

True, it's just about what you call it. While I was researching SansAmps, I called up to Tech21 and was talking to them about it. They said the only reason they use those comparisons for the different types of tones (like a "van halen" sound or a "british" or "california" sound) is so people would have a familiar reference point of something similar. According to Tech21, the names for those sounds and their similarity weren't even thought of until after the products had been designed. They designed a preamp that just happened to be able to get sounds similar to that produced by well-known equipment. They are also capable of producing a lot of other tones as well.
