I've tried to take as much of your advice on board as possible when going over the song. I'll try and list what I've done, some areas of criticism have been kept because of my personal opinion on how it should sound...
Vocals quietened nearer the beginning
Drums rerecorded to try and fix their poor quality, particularly bass drum & cymbals, + jingle bells quietened at end
Acoustic guitar volume brought up at end
Attempted to create more definition in the electric and acoustic guitars at the rocky part, also increased the levels.
Bass level up througout.
Added a vibrato effect at the end of the rocky bit.
That's about all I can remember. I think it sounds a lot better and I've got you guys to thank. It's not quite perfect, but it's getting there!
One bit that annoys me is at the end of the rock part where the cymbal which is the connection between that part and the subsequent section doesn't seem quite right. It may be slightly out of time (as I had to chop and change the drums a bit due to their volume decreasing) or it may just be that the volume difference is slightly greater. Either way it seems a bit abrupt to me, what do you think?
Anyway, thanks for listening, if you want to comment further then please do, I'm not quite Nigel Godrich yet!
