correcting for drift

I've got 'Correct for Drift' enabled in my Cool Edit 2.1 properties. Yet when I record, it still doesn't start the track recording at the 000.000 mark. It lags about 0.0057 ms. So, I've got two questions. What does 'correct for drift' actually do? And, why is that 0.0057 ms lag happening?

I don't know....

BUT the manual says that this is for setups where everything is not clocked together (i.e., not synched via word clock). Since my set up IS synched via word clock, I've never had a problem.

Try right-clicking on each track and clicking on "Lock for playback."

there should be something else, i think its labeled start synch or something to that effect, its right below correct for drift in the settings, i'm pretty sure thats what you need to click .
