I think I'm listening to the re-mix, correct? Can't say I hear a huge difference, but maybe the vocals are more "On" if you will. They seem to drive the song better....but that could be my sleepy ass imagining it.... :D

The vocals seem to have more depth than before...a little less focus on the highs, and more of a midrange sound....they seem to sit much better.

Is that a cowbell I detect? :D

Nice one again man....

Thanx Dog. I turned up the lead vocals slightly. And re-eq'd the bax. I think they're a little "bigger". There was always a cowbell, but I turned it up a bit for thid mix. I just find it drives the chorus better.

(Hey man, have Nak and Snakedog stopped listening in here...I don't mean for my song, I mean, I don't see them in this forum any more...Or maybe it is just my music...Was it something I said????  :p :D )

I haven't seen Nak or SnakeDog much lately...just a post or two every so often. Wassupwitdat???

Great tune

Rami,

Love the tune. Well written and tightly performed. I've said this before....I hear a Rick Derringer influence coming through in your style but with a modern sound. Good stuff man.

I admire and frankly I'm jealous (in a good way) of the "openess" you get in your mixes while still having a very full arrangement.

IMO the new mix puts the bass and vox where they need to be.

I still think you are a little pitchy at times on the vocal harmonies but that's being a nit picker on my part because this is very good work.

Keep 'em coming.

Thanx alot Bart...I really appreciate it. And I was a huge Rick Derringer fan, so maybe some of that creeps into my music. But I take that as a compliment. The pitchy vocals will be re-done. I addressed that a few posts up, but you're 100% right. Thanx alot for the listen and comments. :)

Meant as a compliment.....I'm a Derringer, Edgar fan too!

Hey Dog-Ram, my 3 random song reviews a day this week added to 15 for the week and would add up to 7800 for the decade. Hehe, anyway, yeah haven't been around much otherwise, been a busy week. Just started a new job and have been thinking JUST THINKING of getting engaged              :D :D
Anyway, since I'm posting in this thread i better check out the tune later ;)

i personally dont mind a little 'pitchiness' in the vocals of rock music. hell, a little pitchiness is emotion. it makes it sound real. i dont want to hear enhanced or robot-like perfection. if i wanted to hear pitch-perfect singing, id listen to celine dion or some other bullshit like that.

Hehe...Hey, I wasn't of accusing you of never participating, that would be a redicuous accusation. Just noticed I haven't seen you around as much. I should have checked "all recent posts by Snakedog" before concluding you haven't been around.
Don't worry about my tunes, it was more about having you guys around. The week end's coming and it's not as fun to get drunk and sit around here if you and Nak aren't around....It's because I love you.........You Bastard!!!

I agree....Even though I always do re-do my tracks until they're as good as I can get them without losing all emotion...And I REFUSE to auto-tune anything. :D

im the same way. im no vocalist by any means, but i do the best i can as many times as i have to, and sometimes that still isnt perfect. i just run with it. :)

Hi CIRO...Thanx alot...I know about the vocals in the bridge, it's driving me crrazy. I can't get the pitch right so I'm leaving it for a few days and then I'll try it as if I never sang it before. Some things are just mental, and I'm very mental. :D:D:D

As far as the overheads...Like you said, it could be perception because I didn't change anything there. Though, maybe the other changes I made affected how the overheads sound. For instance, I turned up the cowbell and turned down the tamborine. Maybe that changed things, who knows. Thanx for the comments. I have a long time before I finish another CD, so I'm sure by that time, the vocals will be on pitch and the mix will be better...Thanx buddy.

(I'm sending out the keyboard this Monday...I had trouble finding a box for it....)

Someone talk about pitchness is emotion..
I agree on a point:if you pay attention, with more than 25 years of "digital tuners", the classical solos are yet "George Harrison "something" or "let it be", or some Jimmy page, or early Clapton or Jimi Hendrix , sometimes "out of tuning" solos

My comments about pitch sounds a little "blah", I know...
But is diferent comment a very little part of a Rami song that is a little "unpitched".
I did bad comments about some guys that put whole pieces with 2 or more tottaly out of tune guitars, that´s unacetpable on "digital tuners days" (and they´re probably are not George Harrison too) :D

(hey, I´m hearing "mundane monday" (that I don´t knew), (kicks ass)

Ciro

Thanx CIRO...I agree about the tuning.

By the way, on my MUSIC page, all my songs are there to listen to, in the Music Player. I just didn't put them up for free download because they're all on my CD. But at least people can hear them for free all they want, they just can't download them.

But I did make this newest one, "Not to Love You" avaliable for free download. If you go to my STORE and scroll to the very bottom, you'll see it there. It says FREE DOWNLOAD right under it. I did it for this one ans "SADDER DAY" because they're not on my CD.

Ok, I will download.

And don´t care about the keyboard!
My lawyer will talk with you about it. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Rami, I was listening...
Remember that I´m not (very far...) an engineer, but I´m curious about the way you mic your overheads and hi hat.
I only know your "I fall apart" tracks, which I mixed on "mix my song", and has no hi hat mic.

If you are recording in the same way, I´m curious about the "no use " of a hi hat mic (which I think could give a more "clean" sound to overall drums, I fell that when you play the tons and even the snare, sound comes with more presence and quality)

Remember again, that´s only a "curious engineer " comment
Ciro

id like to know your setup too. i love your drum sound. very clean and precise - not to mention stellar playing ability.

CIRO....The method I use for my overheads is a little different than most. I thought it was the "Glyn Johns" method, but someone once told me it is a slight variation and not quite his exact method. But anyway, what I do is this:

One overhead is DIRECTLY over the snare, 32 inches above it (about 3 drum stick lengths), pointing STRAIGHT DOWN at the snare.

The other overhead is a just above my left shoulder (I'm left-handed, so it would be everyone else's right shoulder) also pointing at the snare, at the EXACT SAME DISTANCE away.

Both overheads are pointing right at the middle of the snare and are exactly the same distance away.

I was sceptical when I first heard about this. I used to do a simple X-Y. But I'll never go back. I actually have to narrow the panning of my overheads with this set-up, it's so wide. And the best thing about it is that now I get most of my snare sound from the overheads, not from the snare mic.

Here's a picture of my set up. http://www.ramirami.com/images/photos/gallery/420732.jpg

Here's a diagram of the real Glyn Johns set-up. Notice he has one mic coming from the floor tom side. I have mine over my shoulder. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...&hl=en&lr=&rls=DVXA,DVXA:2004-51,DVXA:en&sa=N
