Am I doing something wrong, or will cubase just not allow you to copy something on track 1 and paste it on track 2?

You're probably doing something wrong. Try reading the manual and figure out how to do that, it's really rather easy.

Select the track event, press Ctrl + C, create new track, press Ctrl + V. Done!

Be sure to copy and paste to the same type - audio->audio, midi->midi.

Peace out.

Yep,that works for everything..not just Cubase.....windows that is :D

Make sure you have track 2 selected before you paste, otherwise it'll paste to track one.
