I have the vm3100 Pro and would like to know if Cooledit can control the transport control. If this is possible what do I have to do?

Also, the VM3100 Pro came with editing software. This software indicated that you could configure the software to the various channels of the VM3100.

I can not use the software they provided will not install on my Windows XP machine.

The question is. Can I also do this with cool edit? If so how?

The RPC has 8 in/out that should be selectible as in/outs to be routed to the CE tracks for multi tracking.

The transport question isnt very clear. You want to control the transport with CE? There is no recording on the VM to control. If you mean use the VM to control CE that should be possible through MMC (midi machine control) but I havent tried that.

Thanks for the reply.

As far as transport control I want to be able to hit the record buttom on the VM3100 and that will start the cooledit record process.

As far as multi tracking I have not been able to see how I can assign a track on the VM3100 to a track on CE. Could you please explane this process as the VM3100 Docs Suck.

CoolEdit is the problem, not the VM3100. I'm running CE Pro and I went to Options/Settings/Devices but CE wouldnt let me choose multiple outs.

Can anybody confirm that CE Pro will not allow you to route to multiple outs?

Did you get the studio pack with Logic? I am using that and the deeper editing is very clunky but for basic multi-tracking the templates for the VM3100 have you up and running right away.

Go here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rolandstudiopack/ and join the yahoo group. There is some usefull info there.

You can do the transport thing using midi and MMC but I havent set it up manually before.

I have a Layla card, and cooledit allows me to select which of the 4 pairs (8 outputs) I want to use. Likewise in the multitrack view, I can route any of the tracks to what ever output I choose. I think you need to have the audio devices *recognized* by your computer to work.....as far as the other questions....can't help you there.

The problem with the logic package is 2 things.

1. The version that came VM3100 will only run on windows 95-98 The machine that is doing the studio work is a Duel PIII 600 running Windows 2000 Pro. I can not locate any info on how to get a verision that will run on this system and because it is a duel processor machine I have to run Windows 2000 pro.

2. I am not familar with that software. However I could find out where to get a version that will install on the machine listed above.

Does anyone know where I can get the logic package for windows 2000?

I do thank everyone for the help so far.

For Win 2K you will have to purchase their upgrade to the Gold version I believe.
