hey im new to the cool edit world.how do i hook my mixing board up to my soundcard, than record it with cool edit?i put my outputs from my mixer to the line in on my computer but it still dosent do anything?any suggestions?any help would be appreciated.Thanx

run the main outs from your mixer into your line in on your sound card, then you have to take the line out on your sound card and go back into your mixer, you can go about this different ways, the way i did it was to go into the tape inputs on my mixer, with it hooked up that way i can send the audio coming out of the computer to my monitors or headphones without having it go through the main outs back into the computer and be re-recorded when i'm trying to do an overdub. go into your audio settings and click line in and set the slider about 50 to 75% up. go into cool edit and click record on the track you want to record and then click on the input of the track and make sure its set up to accept the line in as the input. i know all of that sounds confusing but its really easy once you do it/

ok i did what u said.it still isnt workint......properly.....ok heres my setup...i have my guitar cab mic'ed with a shure sm-57 directly in the center of the cone about 3-4 inches away.im running that into my mixing board.my mixing board is an older one with 6 channels.no phantom power or nothing.it has 2 main outputs a monitor and various aux inputs.i then plugged one of the outputs into the line in on my computer, and im using my computer speakers for now as my monitors.i dont have propper monitors....yet,wich is ok considering i just want to make sure the program works and all.ok the new problem is...when i record my track its very distorted like almost unaudible.i have to push my faders all the way up to even get my meters up.that includes the main fader.if i did that on any other program id be in the reds all day and it would sound completely horrid.so what is that i do to fix this?the sound waves are pretty small and messy and jumpy.any soloution?thanx man.

If you are able to record this way with other software, then its purely an issue with your settings. Check all your input and output options in the cool edit settings and make sure you have chosen the correct ones.

last program i used was Acid 4.0 and i used the mic input for some reason the line in input sounded terrible is there a reason for that or is it possible to just use the mic input?or is that a bad idea?

yet again.crap for sound....lol this is rediculous....i have to push my faders allllllllll the way up to even catch a sound man....and when i do that it feedbacks like a mofo..well any last suggestions?thanx again
