Cool edit to Wavelab...

Ok, here´s the deal:
I´ve used the Gina 20 bit cards analog rec input to record a stereotrack from a CD-player on the Cool edit version that came with Gina (appearently a light one).
First of all I can´t the meters up on Cool edit so I have to rely on the easy trim function that I have activated when I record to get the proper level. Maybe I should only use the easy trim when I set the levels and not when I record?
Then, when I save the recording as a .wav I use what I think is called windows PCM .wav. There are several different kinds of wavefiles that it can be saved as. Is this the right one? I´m using Windows-95.
And third, when I open up the saved file in Wavelab 1.6 the input signal goes totally berzerk on me. It´s just way too loud and distorted. Like it´s been recorded too loud. Is it not compatible with Cool edit? Shouldn´t a wavefile be a wavefile no matter what software you use?

I hope this makes any sense at all to you guys...

cheers,
giggsy
