Hi gents and smarta gents!!

Anyways, I'm recording this song or at least attempting to but I'm never satisfied with the quality. I can't explain the sound but i can leave a link of an accapella if requested.. I have a delta66 soundcard which links into the Omni I/O Studio box... It has installed preamps so my volume is getting up there.. (dynamic mic).. First problem is.. My instrumental is way too loud for the volume that is projected.. So what I do is I start the track volume at "-5." Is this the best thing to do ? mixdown in the end, and raise the volume ?.....

I also got another problem if you guys may allow me another minute. I was wondering if the quality is because of the mic I'm using ? .. it's an imported mic but I figured it was good since it was $130. The acapella sounded terrible and quite frankly, My old computer mic sounded betta that my delta66,omni, and mic setup. It's hard for me to see how much the delta66 is helping when this is the result I'm receieving.. Or could it be that my editing is wrong? not using my plugins right? Would appreciate it if you guys could lead me.. even better if you guys can lay down a email or aol/aim screenname. that way we can get me out of this mess. :) thanks guys.. sorry for the lengthy note

Your Delta-Omni Studio and Delta 66 card combo should get you EXCELLENT results. You must examine everything you are doing, one stage at a time, to find the problem....or give M-Audio a buzz. I have been treated very well by them. I am using the same combo. I am very pleased by the quality and dynamic range I have been able to produce. Sorry, cant' help ya' further. ---Lee

hey thanks, sir...

hmmm.. does it matter if I used a decent mic ?... i don't know.. I'm kind of disappinted i'm not getting results I've been hearing.. It's okay. I'm pretty sure I must've made a mistake somewhere.. welps, hope u can guide me if i have any more problems since you have the same setup as i.. :) thanks

I am using a large condenser Marshall V67 (100 bucks) and it is damn good for the money. What mic are you using? What is the name? What kind is it?

I'm using an imported mic. It's a popular brand in Asia.. My brother bought it because his wife likes to "karoake." It's called a Nippon ($130). I thought it'd work well for recording but obviously the results I'm getting isn't favorable. I tried my computer mic. THe only difference bt the two is that my dynamic mic has more latency in it, and the voice is a lot clearer.. but quite often, i still hear a robotic, digital sound in my voice.. plus, sometimes i have to lower the instrumental to get it to blend w/ my voice. instead of my voice amplifying so it can blend w/ my instrumental. is that bad?

next move.. shure sm58

Shure 58 is a good choice, but for vocals/acoustic work, a nice Chinese made copycat large diaphragm condenser would be my suggestion. Of course you will need phantom power 48v. I wouldn't trust SOME of those karaoke mics. ---Lee
