I recently built a vocals booth for my home studio and I'm currently using a Samson C03 mic. I notice it is a bit subpar but before I upgrade (mics) I want to see if any of you have any advice concerning the software. The mic is bad about Hiss and Flatness. Are there any corrective functions in CEP2 that would take care of that or do I need to go ahead and get a better mic. I do have a soundproof room so I don't have some of the problems many people complain about. I would just like to know if CEP 2 can compensate for the inadequacies of the mic. Thanks, TB

You can use Cool's EQ to enhance or diminish this or that frequency range. You can use Cool's noise reduction tool to get rid of the hiss. Both of these will improve the sound you're getting with the crappy mic. But when the mic's crappy, it's capturing crappy sound. You can't make crappy sound into good sound with the software. If you want to capture good sound, you have to do it at the beginning, when you're recording. You need a good mic.

It's like photography, if you're familiar with that. If you have a crappy camera that takes crappy pictures, no amount of darkroom work or digital editing can improve the basic exposure.
