I have been using cool edit pro 2.0 on a machine with Win 98 for some time now and have had no major problems. Recently I installed it on a new machine which has XP. I can use CEP ok on this new machine but when I try to close CEP it freezes and I get a "program not responding" message.
Just wandering if anyone else has had this problem and if they resolved it. I thought CEP2.0 would run fine on XP.

Only actual difference that may do this is that XP uses a WDM soundcard driver while on 98 you probably had the old Win9x VXD driver type.
CEP2 has the ability to use all the features of a WDM driver (like multichannel, multiclient, higher sample rates etc) so try an see what happens if you untick "try as WDM" in the CEP device settings option tabs for playback and record. Maybe your cards WDM driver is bad?
Other thoughts are...
Install XP Service Pack 1 (or 2 if it's out).
Log onto XP with administrator rights.
Make a special folder for CEP temp files and set it to use it as the primary temp folder.
Have you updated to CEP2.1?
