okay so I've been off here for a while because I've been in canada for two weeks on holiday, but I want to know how you can convert an ableton project to my recently bought reaper. I think it is possible so any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

If you just need the full song, you can just mix down the song as a .wav file and then import it into Reaper.

If you need individual tracks to still further edit, you can just mixdown the individual tracks and then import those individually into Reaper as a .wav file.

There may be an easier way, I don't use either programs, but what I described will work.

I knew that would work actually because I suggested it to somebody once but thenI'm pretty sure a few other people said that you can switch over the whole project

If it's just the wave recordings you want to move across then that shouldn't be a problem.

However, if you want to literally move the whole work in progress, have a look at AATRANSLATOR which can do marvelous things! (And the guy who wrote it even posts on HR sometimes.)

One way of doing it is to make use of Rearoute, which comes with Reaper. I've used it to go from Logic to Reaper.

This is the way it works:

I opened a Logic Project, changed the audio driver from the Firepod's ASIO to Rearoute.

Went to each track, and changed the output to one of the sixteen available in Rearoute.

Loaded up Reaper, created sixteen tracks, setting the input of each to one of the sixteen Rearoute inputs available. Set the tempo in Reaper to be the same as the Logic tempo. Armed the tracks for recording.

Went to Logic, hit play. Went to Reaper, hit record.

Reaper then records what Logic is playing.

This is not a bad way of doing things if the tracks are messy with lots of drop-ins and stuff.

of each to its output to
eaRaa

Thanks for that Bobbsy.

Clearly there are lots of different ways to get from one daw to another and each method has it's pros & cons.
Things to consider are the cost, ease of conversion, detail converted, detail required to be converted, etc, etc.

AATranslator will convert from an Ableton Live v8 'arrangement' (ALS) to Reaper (RPP).
From memory the sort of detail converted includes:
Track names, timeline envelopes (Pan & Vol), Clip fades & xfades, clip gain, clip vol envelope, markes/cues
The standard version of AAT will do this.

Hope this helps

thanks a lot guys, does sound a lot, but I have done so much on ableton already I think I should just finish this song then start a completely new one on reaper
