converting midi tracks to audio

hey, how do you do as the title says in cubase SE? im struggling to get a midi drum track very loud so i want to convert it to audio and compress it properly etc.

I'm not absolutely certain, but I think you have to export it as an audio file, then reimport it. Make sure you select the correct MIDI module for your sound. Then, solo the track and choose export Audio mixdown. The created track should contain an audio rendering of your drums that you can reimport and mix.
 
You don't have to export it into audio if you just want to compress it. Every VSTi has it's own channel in the mixer (not the midi channel) on which you can put any effect.
 
Last time I tried, export/audio didn't work on MIDI channels. So what I do if I really want to use MIDI is solo the channel, and change the recording configuration of the computer, to record line-out, or wave. Then just let it record the track internally directly into an audio channel. I hope this makes sense, it is simple enough.
 
My experience has been to solo the channel .... set the markers to include the whole passage. then file ->export->audio mixdown. and then of course reimport it
