i have been trying to upload my cd onto my hard drive using the audacity program but the cd file type is .cda and audacity is saying i need the file to be in WAVE not .wav format? does anyone know what this means and how i can get my music onto that program?

You need to use a program like RealOne Player to copy from cda to wav format.

Alternatively if you have burning software such as Nero, you can drag the cd tracks to the burn window as if you were going to burn them to another cd. Nero will convert them to wav files on the way through and store them in one of its directories

.cda is not a computer file format. Rather, it is the way the computer sees a track on an audio CD. To convert to wave you need a ripper. Some CD burning programs have rippers built into them.

However, Exact Audio Copy is one of the best rippers available, and it's free.
