converter question?

If I used a pre-amp that had an ADAT or SPDIF output, and hooked that into an interface like the Firepod via SPDIF, or like ADAT on the 1804 or similar, would I then be skipping the Converter in the Interface? Thanks in advance.

That would be my guess. The question then becomes which unit has the better converter and internal clock?

yes, a converter converts analog to digital and back again. Since you just made it digital...it doesn't need to convert again.
