Control Surfaces... with motorized faders?

In another thread.. I saw someone mention the CMLabs control surfaces. I look into them on their site, and now I REALLY want one. Heh.

In one of the videos they have, the dude was adjusting plugin parameters in ProTools. Does anyone know if it can do this in CubaseSX?

Also, does anyone know where I can buy one and how much they are? Ebay seems to have them randomly, but it's always the MotorMix. I was kinda hoping to be able to get the MotorMate, I thinks that's what it's called. Whichever has the transport controls.

Also, does anyone know of anything similar to the CMLabs one that does the same job? For around the same price range?

I'm really looking for something with the motorized faders. The others seem kinda pointless.

If budget limiting you, then have a Look @ Berhinger BCF 2000.

I think it Can be used with Cubase.

Yes the CM labs stuff will work with cubase SX.

Be afraid of Behringer... at least the BCA audio interface has huge problems with drivers.

Edit: umm.. sry for that. just checked .. They have come up with updates already so that shouldnt be a problem.

To answer the orignial question, why have motors, because you need them to move to postion when you fast forward to different parts of the tune.

I have done it with and without motors. I have used Teac USB surfaces, CMS MotorMix, and a Houston.

I will never go back to a non-motorized system. If I could afford , one, I'd get a 24 channel one so I don't have to constantly switch banks.

Behringer BCF2000

I think that BCF2000 does have the motorised faders

I own one - it definitely has motorized faders!

I use it with Sonar (in simulated Mackie mode) - the manuals say that it also works with Cubase, ProTools and other popular software.

Will it record simultaneous tracks? ie separate drums to individual tracks so that the can be post-mixed.

The only one I can find that does this and has all the right features in the Tascam FW-1082. Does anyone know anything about this one?

A control surface is just something to control the faders on the screen in a more physical sense...

Completely different from an interface.

I'm using the Tascam 1884 (the big brother to the new 1082). Works well for me. Moving faders are cool.

If your just looking for a control surface I would try the Berry unit as it is way cheaper. If you are looking for an all in one solution then I would do the Tascam or the Yamaha 01x.

I was originaly going to buy the Mackie controller but when I looked at the prices in Canada, I decided that the tascam for less money would allow me to sell some of my other gear to recover costs, and I would have everything I needed with just the one unit.

The Yamaha O1V will do all that.
Of course it comes with a bank of pres that you may or may not use.
And you get 14 motorized faders, plus a motorized master, instead of 8 and 1.

I recently picked up the Tascam 1884 as I needed a new soundcard and always wanted a control surface one day.

The audio quality is excellent and the controller is awesome. Really fun and really efficient.

The Behringer ones definitely bear looking at, and the Sound on Sound review mentions the Behringer website being a good online resource for patches and support. If I could justify one I'd definitely get a BCF2000 and probably a BCR2000 too. The BCA2000 looks like an Edirol-type cheap interface but with those nasty Behringer pres.
