Just as a matter of interest, I picked up a "Microsoft Strategic Commander" in a local supermarket for 38Euro yesterday. Thats roughly 38US dollars as well.

From what I've seen, they are fully programmable and can perform any combination of key presses that your computer keyboard can.

Take a look at: A Review of the Strategic Commander

I used it a little on my laptop last night (not my music pc) and in Sound Forge it was great. you can set it up, so that you can zoom in at any point with one button, scroll through the audio when you rotate the device etc.

Anyway, whilst i'm not normally a Microshite advocate, I'd recommend this to anyone, it's far easier than using a keyboard and trying to remember shortcuts. If you have an average project studio mixer, then you can sit the mouse on one site of it, and the Strategic Commander on the other - and not have an annoying keyboard in your way all the time - just so you can press delete when the talent messes up a take.

Food for thought.

What's so hard about keyboard shortcuts?

I guess that thing is pretty cool.

I always find that my keyboard ends up sitting on my mixer (as the mixer is inbetween the speakers.

At least this way, I can put the keyboard out the way, and put the mouse on one side of the mixer and the SC on the other.

:)

Cheers
