I know, I know... "contact pickups suck etc etc etc"
Well, I'm fairly new to this game, and also fairly broke, so I have to go with what I've got. What I've got is a DiMarzio contact pickup that sticks on to the body of the instrument connected to a barely-shielded cable of about 8 feet in length.
I'm recording my classical guitar by jacking this thing directly into my SB live drive mic/line input. I've got a crappy little old Roland amp which needs to have the pots cleaned. Should I use this for a pre-amp? Will a pre-amp buy me any better sound quality?
I'm using Cakewalk Home Studio and newly purchased Sound Forge. Is there anything I can do with effects or processing to make the most of this little bugger?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions... did I mention that I'm broke?
