Constant reverb on laptop playback.

My laptop soundcard had suddenly, all the time, played any sound as if it has a lot of reverb added. This goes no matter what the source of the sound or program used to play it. It is almost as if a plugin has gotten permanently attached to the sound card driver but I can find noplace where that seems to be the case.

there is probably a setting in the sound applet that is switched on relating to reverb. go into the applet and switch it off.
OR some computer speakers do this as well (seperately from your system).
like a 3d effect. switch it off on the computer speakers if you have
some attached.

Sometimes the built in mic on lap tops can be set to Play through the speakers.
Apple Powerbooks.
When this happens, the sound from the speakers is picked up and feed back through the system. Because of the laytency of computers, this can come out late and sound like reverb or echo. Check to see of the Mic is on.
