I plan on getting I think its called the M-audiophile 2496 sound card. I was wondering if most Microphones will plug into it. If not can you buy connectors for the mics so it will plug into the soundcard? Thanks.

No, you can't plug a mic into the Audiophile. The card's inputs are line-level. A microphone puts out a very tiny electrical signal (as do guitar and bass pickups). A microphone requires a preamp to match the signal to line level. Guitar and bass amps have two stages -- a preamp and a power amp to drive the speakers.

If you buy a 2496 card, you need to buy a mixer in which you will plug all your mics, guitars etc and finally connect your mixer out to soundcard line in.
If you dont want to buy a mixer, check out other types of M-audio soundcards that comes with preamps, so you can connect all your things directly in the soundcard.
