Hello,

Dumb questions possibly, but I can't figure it out or find the answers on the net anywhere. Here goes.

I have a Behringer Mixer that I am planning on running into my Audiophile 2496. Are the RCA's the best way? Next, I want to be able to hear it. I was hoping to use my 5.1 setup for my computer, but I can't figure out how to do this with the 2496. Is there a way? Finally, I have run the RCA's to the in on the card, and I can see the VMU meter working in the M-Audio software mixer, but I can't see it in Soundforge. I think in SF all I get is a hum or something from my other (onboard) sound card. HELP! :)

What do you suggest? Can I run 5.1 or am I SOL there? Can I run 2 sound cards as in the 2496 and the onboard sound which is 5.1? How do I set up Soundforge to use the 2496? Also, is there such a thing as say, RCA to 1/8" plug converter to use the outs on the 2496 with my existing 5.1 speakers?

Thanks for any help/suggestions. This is a lot more work than I thought it would be when I bought the card. ACK!! :)

not sure how much help Ill be because I dont know soundforge or 5.1 surround setup...by I got a ap2496!! hehe

I run a small mixer to my AP2496 w/ rca cable and monitor from my computer and the mixer.

Get a rca-to-1/8" and plug the rca ends into the OUTs on the 2496 then plug your 1/8" 5.1 speakers into the other end. I went a step further and split the 2496 outs to 2 outs, one for the monitors and one runs back to the mixer for monitoring during tracking.

Somewhere in soundforge there might be options to select which soundcard you input and output to. I suspect this is the cause of the hum you hear. if you got meters flashing at the AP panel you got sound coming into the 2496...just an output prob. if not you might have to disable the onboard s/c.

good luck...ap2496 has been a good card for me...but I run n-track studio.

Thanks for the reply! I just purchased the 2496 and am eager to get this thing working before the snow flies. :) Then it's time to do some recording!

Do you suggest Rat Shack or where for the connector cable?

Thanks!
