I recently purchased an Electrix Mo-Fx unit (@ $99 it was too tempting). I have it connected to one of the Aux sends on my mixer (Stereo 1/4) and returning to two mono 1/4 cables. The problem is that my mixer keeps showing that the left channel is running hotter than the right. I reversed the input (Aux send into right input of unit), but then the right channel was hotter than the left. Do I need a Y insert cable to run the unit correctly or am I overlooking a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You could do the old Zappa trick and feed your returns back thru two open channels on your mixer, if you can spare them. This would allow for individual control of left and right channel.

Well, I'm not familiar with the unit you're using, but if it has two TS inputs and you are using a single TRS into one of them, you'll probably have problems since you are sending a stereo signal to a mono input. I assume the FX unit does some stereo processing, which will create a signal on both L and R of the output, but could cause one to be higher than the other. You probably need, just as you thought, a TRS to dual TS Y cable for the input.

your mixer is definitely sending a stereo aux send?
