connection alesis hd24 to snow leopard via ethernet, does not work

please can anyone tell me step by step or suggest me a link to sxplain how to create a connection between hd24 and snow leopard via ethernet? please.
waht, ip, subnet mask, gateway and in snowleopardwhat to do,
i tryied to use cyber duck , filezilla and just safari where in url bar i put ip number read in my alesis, but nothing work,
green light are on behind the alesis, and in network preferences i have network connected but i can see the content of my alesis hd 24.
