Hi, my name is Jerry. I'm looking to connect an electric drum kit to a small samson 6 chanel mixing board. I have a good stereo system to hook it up to with a casette deck. Would anyone know the best way to hook up the mixer to the the audio system so I can record (on the casette desk), me playing along with a friend or with music? I would like to use the stereo system as my monitoring system............

Just take the mains outputs from the mixer and patch into an AUX input (or any line level input) on the home stereo. You can NOT use a phono input however as it's an RIAA type input and won't play nice with line level devices.

Be careful, sounds like an easy way to blow the speakers on your nice stereo. Keep the volume low, and turn the bass down.

Hmmmm. I track through my monitors all the time and never had a problem. Now if you're trying to play at concert level you may roast something. Other than that, jam on.

It sounds like he wants to use a home stereo. Using a home stereo as an amp is risky, I blew a speaker once that way (playing bass).

thank you

Thanks for the info.. this hobby is the most confusing I had ever encountered. I'm sure you all will be hearing from me again.

What everyone said is right. Hook it up, watch levels & take care with bass. I worked that way for quite some time & had no probs so long as I took care. Vol OFF before powering up & all that stuff.
Enjoy - remember to use noise reduction if you can & if not go just a little red. ALSO use 60 min tapes or shorter so you don't have stretch probs & eventually buy a tape 4 track 2nd hand to see just how good you can get for a few dollars more.
