I want to connect my computer and an amplifier on to an Alto S12 mixer.
What is the best way?
At the moment i have connected it as such:
From the Alto CTRL OUT to the accesories of an amp that drives the speakers
From the MAIN OUT of the Alto to the LINE IN on the computer
From LINE OUT computer to LINE IN in one of the channels of the ALTO.
I also have an Alpha Verb Unit connected on the Alto mixer
From the mixer stereo aux return to the averb INPUT
From the mixer aux send to the averb OUTPUT

Is there any other way of connecting this set up??

Please HEEEEELLLLPPPP

Okay, I think you what you are trying to do is connect the computer to your mixer, then plug the mixer into an amp which are connected to some speakas.

Okay, heres what you do. you may have some of it already.
Connect the LINE OUT of the computer into a LINE IN on the mixer (I suggest getting a 1 1/8th to 2 1/4th adapter- thats only if your using a stock soundcard)
Now, here is where some more info on your mixer would help.
How many outputs does it have?
Does it have sub groups?
How many aux sends does it have?
There are a lot of ways going about hooking up the mixer to your amp as well as the computer.

As far as the verb unit goes, plug an AUX SEND on the mixer into the verb INPUT and then an OUTPUT on the verb unit to a AUX RETURN on the mixer. I think thats the only thing wrong with your setup.

Thanx for replying

It has MAIN OUT, CTRL OUT, ALT OUT,
AUX RETURN, AUX SEND, Tape in and out,
5 mic XLR Inputs, 4 Mono 1/4 TRS Inputs, AND 5 Stereo 1/4 TRS inputs

Chris

What kind of soundcard are you connecting it to?

Normally, you would connect the MAIN out to your AMP.

And then the ALT OUT to your computer.

you could also use an aux send to plug into your computer, but this would only be a mono signal.

Soundblaster audigy
i know it is not the best but the recordings i have done are good enough for me at this stage.........
Connecting the main out to the amp im having problems.
I have connected main out to the computer in and control room out to the amp
on the alt out i have not connected anything.
Doing it this way i find that i create a loop.
It is so frustrating

what do you intend on doing with your setup?

what happens when you plug the main out into the amp?

What kind of amp is it?

Does the XLR inputs also have inserts (INS)associated with them on the mixer?

Which is the sub out
the control room out or the main out?

It would be the ALT OUTPUT on the back of the mixer, next to the main out.

OK

how about the amp that has the speakers

which output on the mixer is recommended

Chris

It really all depends on what you are planning on doing.

Normally, the MAIN OUT would be connected to the amp.

Record and while listening to the recording via headphones record more tracks
