Howdy, y'all; my voice teacher lent me an M-Audio Radium61 to play with. I downloaded the driver from M-Audio's site, installed it in my WinXP Pro SP2 Toshiba laptop, connected the Radium61 to a USB port and switched it to draw power via USB. No indication of (unsigned; argh!) driver installation problems.

So far, so good. After reading the minimal Radium61 manual, I think that I should be able to drive the MS softsynth with MIDI via the USB connection. The manual states that, "Virtually any type of MIDI controller information can be sent from the Radium to your computer, using the power and convenience of the Mac or PC computer’s USB port." OK, so no other MIDI interface is required. However, no sound. The Radium61 is set to xmit on MIDI channel 1, and the MS GS Wavetable SW Synth is the default MIDI playback device. A MIDI file plays correctly thru Media Player 11.

What else must I do to make this work?

TIA,

APJ.

Do you have any music software like Cakewalk or Cubase? I have not tried an onboard soundcard through Media player, but I have with Sonar and it worked just fine. Maybe you can dowload a freebie or a demo of something and try it that way.
