Connecting it right?

I know this may sound stupid, but is this the right way to connect a preamp to audio interface.. I've been sending the 1/4" line out of preamp to 1/4" line in on my audio interface, but I get very audible hiss - which Im 90% sure is due to my rather shit preamp, the presonus TubePre - but I've just read here that you connect Line out from the preamp to the Combo preamp on the audio interface (I have an EMU 0202 usb2.0). Which is correct...

Line out to line in is correct and according to the manual both inputs accept line level sources so both should work.

How do you have the levels set on the front of the e-mu? You could be amplifying the signal twice to get the hiss.

aaahhh... I had the level on the Emu at about 12 o'clock. Can't try it out right now but thanks.

if u preamp something before the Emu, turn the preamp on the Emu down
