Connecting guitar amp to soundcard

On the back of my Mesa Boogie DC5 guitar amp there is an output marked 'recording'.I think this output is at 'line level' and i was thinking about connecting this to the 'line in' of my Yamaha sw1000xg sound card, but something just frightens the hell out of me about sticking such a hot amp into something as flimsy looking as a PC soundcard,is it safe? Can you really crank up the gain and record it safely as long as i just keep an eye on my levels within my recording software?,Cubase VST32.Any advice, tips appreciated before i fry something:-)bye!

I dont foresee a problem with that....just turn down the level of your mixer in your software or the level slider on the card software and slowly bring it up while your playing to see if its ok or being overdriven. You should be able to find a comfort(safe) zone.
