Connecting audio interface to control surface mixer

Hey guys. Can you tell me how to connect my interface (Presonus Firepod) to a control surface mixer (which I haven't bought yet)?? Does it go through SPDIF? I'm not really sure how that works. I want to be able to control each input on my Firepod on each fader on the control surface I'm gonna buy. Is this possible? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Both the Firepod and the contol surface interface with your DAW. That's where the relationship is established and takes place...no actual connection between the firepod and control surface is needed.
What DAW program are you using?
