Configuring for CEP 2.0 to link with an external mixer

How to I configure CEP 2.0 so that when I input an external mixer into my computer, channel 1 from the mixer will record on track 1 on CEP, channel 2 will record on track 2, etc. Do i need a special hookup, or is it just a matter of plugging the mixer into the normal recording jack on my computer's soundcard?

You need a multi-input soundcard like the Delta 44.

A multichannel full-duplex card. The built-in computer card will allow no more than stereo (two-channel) I&O. I use a Terratec EWS88D card with a Tascam digital mixer: the mixer has 8 inputs via fiberoptic ADAT, and there are 8 output the same. In other words, I can record 8 separate tracks, and I can play back 8 tracks with each one on a separate fader.
