Configuring Alesis M8 USB and Cubase

Hi all. The Multimix 8 USB 2.0 came with the Cubase LE4. I have a Dell Dimension with a 2.4G Processor 300G Hard drive and the regular sound card that come with it. My challenge is to record vocal tracks to Cubase. The Alesis show me complete and full signal in the master, however the Cubase shows nothing recorded. To the best of my ability, I think I have put the suggested drivers to control recording and playback. no luck however. any other audio file on my system plays back through my speakers , so my presumption is no problem on playback.

Could someone please walk a "hard head" step by step through the configuration. Thanks
 
i have been having the same problem i'm using a pentium dual core 2.0 GHz, 160 GB HD, Vista.
