Hey guys, I have a 2.8Ghz P4, 512 RAM, 80Gb HD, 80Gb slave drive, WinXP Pro, M-Audio 2496 interface, Yamaha MG10 mixer, Cakewalk HS2002. Should I install the Cakewalk on the main drive and store the audio files on the slave? Or install Cakewalk AND store the audio files on the slave? Also, what applications should I shut down before recording (anti-virus, etc.)? How do I tell which processes are critical to the OS and which ones don't need to be running? I've tried to end a few processes to use less of the CPU, but I always end up upsetting the OS and it shuts itself down. I want to be sure that I don't experience any latency or dropouts due to the computer running crap in the background. Thanks to anyone who can show me the way.....
