I would wait for some dust to settle on the new Mac G5's. They are relatively new and somewhat untested. Most new Mac models go through revisions as do the various operating systems (Jaguar, Panther, Lion, Mountain Lion, Cougar, Pussycat, Cheshire Cat, Tabby Cat......). And I'm not sure that I would want to be Apple's audio crash test dummy! The other issue is cost. There are many less expensive high power G4's out there not to mention PC's. If I had $8,000 to "computerize" a studio, I would spend the lion's share on A/D-D/A conversion, a high quality card or interface, and a stand-alone wordclock.
