computer VU meter latency

I'm running cubase SX and all of the VU meters seem to be a bit off of the beat. I don't think the speed of my PC is to blame as i just built a new athlon 2ghz, 512meg pc2700, etc etc.

Is there any way to improve this performance? (update drivers?)
I will be buying a delta 1010 in a week or so...will the installation of that have any effect on the meters?

I have the same problem with Vegas on my computer. I could be wrong but I don't think there is any fix for this problem.

Might just have to live with it.

ntrack also does this...

i think that is how allllll vu meters tend to work. we hear it out of the speakers, the vu meters react a moment later..

i guess? haha.

okay... maybe it's just a software thing.

Cooledit pro seems to have the fastest responding meters of everything i've tried. oh well...better latency with the meters than the signal
