I'm interested in the hard drive. How come you're getting rid of it?

Hi Chris,
OK,

This is the story on the HD.
We supply computers with our product at work, we move 10-15 computers a week. This was removed from a new computer because the customer wanted a larger capacity HD.
This HD was reformatted to remove the licensed OS. It has been repackaged and sealed.

F.Y.I and to be fair, there is another person asking about this HD.

Thanks for your interest.

Pier

I just noticed that it's ADA instead of EIDE. Damn.

Hi Chris,

ATA wont work for you ?

Interface:
The drive interface is the "language" or protocol a drive uses to communicate with a host computer or network. The three main types of drive interfaces are ATA (IDE), SCSI, and Fibre Channel). The ATA and SCSI interfaces have evolved to include many sub-types, which may or may not be backwardly compatible.

Don't the ATA need like, extra power or something like that? I really don't know what I'm talking about, so help me out here. Haha.

My motherboard is an ABIT IC7. If that hard drive will work with it then I'll buy it tomorrow.

Hello Chris,

I really don't know why it wouldn't work ? If you are using an EIDE or IDE HD now, it should work.

This HD uses the 40 pin connector, 80 conductor ribbon cable. and the 4 pin molex power cable, standard.

Chirs,

Check and see what Hard Drive you are using now ?
If the Mother board uses/has IDE connectors it will work.

I'm probably a tad late on this, but... Yeah, this seagate harddrive will work on the ABIT IC7 mobo. if you take a look here, you'll see the "SB SATA" (SATA means Serial ATA) and the "SB IDE" comparison rows... there is info on both of these, and on the SB IDE (the one you're concerned with), it shows "2ATA100". This means it has two ATA-100 controllers on the motherboard. Each of these ATA-100 controllers can host up to two drives apiece, whether it be zipdrives, hard drives, or optical drives (dvd, cd, etc etc).

The Seagate drive posted is an ata-100 drive, as specified here. And it will work.

And for further info, you can use an ATA-133 drive on this motherboard if i remember correctly, the only thing is, it will run at an ata-100 speed, and not ata-133.

So you shouldn't have any worries with buying this drive.
If you don't, i may however. ;)
