computer recording

Hello folks. I've been checking out this site for a while and been spending some time in the newbie section but thought I'd jump over here and ask some basic questions if ya don't mind.
I want to record on my computer and need multiple inputs(3 at least).I have a multichannel mixer so I suppose I could plug vocals, guitar & keyboard into the mixer and then into the line input right? If I do this won't it all be on one track in the computer?
What kind of sound card would have at least 3 inputs so I could go directly in?
I don't have the software yet, but after reading all the thoughts on this site, AND due to the fact I'm a rookie in this I thought I would start out w/ n-track.

Actually,that 1 input on oyur soundcard is a stereo input.All you need is an adapter to turn the two plugs coming from your mixer into one into the soundcard.That doesn't solve your problem if you really need 3inputs at once,but it might help.
I'm pretty new to computer recording myself and I use n-track.It seems really easy to learn.I really like it.

Yes, recording from a single input will put everything on a single track. The only way around it would be to record each instrument one at a time. Then you could put them on seperate tracks.

If you want to do simultaneous multi-track recording you'll need a soundcard with multiple inputs.

I have a Midiman Delta 1010 (8 ins/8 outs) which I'm happy with. If you can live with 4, the 44 would probably be a good choice.
 
thanx folks. I'm liking the Delta44 soundcard and thinking about whether to go n-track or Power tracks since I'm just starting out.
