Computer recording please help

What gear do I need? Do I need a pre amp and/or a power amp? What type of interface should I get? Firewire? USB? Pci card? What the heck should I do?[ I'm looking to buy interfaces and amps around the hundred dollar range. My comp is a Windos Sony vaio.] PLEASE email any help to Audioaddicted1@aol.com
