I have got my studio to "sound" really quite... so quite that the only noticable noise is the computer power supply fan. :(

I have a 300watt power supply. Any advise on solving the problem? I read somewhere about getting a quiter fan...

does this means getting an external fan?
how do I disbable the internal fan?
any links to show how this is done?

Thanks!

To solve your problem you could also buy a new Power Supply:D
Try the ones you find at http://www.quietpc.com or the Enermax Whisper Quiet that you can find almost anywhere around the net.

Just glad someone can learn from my mistakes and problems:(

I've read in Recording magizines that you can buy a "SILENT BOX" or something like that. It's just a little bigger than a computer tower. You put your tower in there, and any sound that it makes, won't leak out or whatever. It's like a little sound proof room. Anyway, this might not work, i dunno. Just thought I'd share.

About the soundbox, how does it affect your computer's ability to keep cool?

I thought about building something like that, but I was scared it would keep the air from properly flowing out.

I´ve seen those sound boxes in computer related sites. Their prices range from $200 to $500, to me, that is pretty expensive. They are also supposed to provide adequate cooling for your CPU. In fact, search the studio display forum, somebody over there posted some blue prints for building your own. Adequate cooling is a must if you wanna go this way.

Too expensive for me, I'll just have to get a quieter HSF and Case fans.;)

try the build your own solution, I recall it would cost like 200 bucks, search the studio display forum

Damn, still too expensive right now.
Well.... at least I don't have any live recording to do anytime soon.

Dude, get a job!!!!:D Just kidding, some quiet case fans and cpu cooler will do the trick

LOL:D

Yeah, I got a job, but I gotta buy other studio gear that are higher priority... I need a second job, you hiring?:D

Nope, but I am where you are, so much cools stuff to buy and so little money:rolleyes:

Yup, I think I'll go drown my sorrows in some............. Television.:D

hmmm, I am a masochist, I will punish myself by looking at the latest American Musical Supply issue, make my mouth water like Pavlov´s dog:eek:

I just thought I'd throw out that idea. I wouldn't need to worry about the sound at all. I mean, I'd hook everything up directly except vocals, and I can record them in another room. Drums, don't play them, would use drum machine or loops .,

Yeah, me too, but eventually I'm gonna have to record some acoustic (not part of a kit) drums. Drum machines don't have those drums.
