I just got a firebox and I am shopping for a PC that will be powerful enough for the box to run smoothly. Does anyone have any info on the minimum amount of power I will need to shoot for?

It's not the firebox that needs a computer, it's your software. The Firebox is a firewire device, so your computer needs to be able to handle firewire, and then after that you're going to need to think about what program you're using when you're setting up your processor and Ram.

If I were setting up a new computer I'd try to get as powerful a computer as I could afford. An Athlon 64 with dual 512's of Ram (total of a gig) will do the job well, and the more Ram the better.

What kind of software and plugins you're using will determine how much processor you'll need, so tell us what you're using.

Just be sure that the puter you get has a firewire connection port. (obviously).

I'm currently running a Firebox on an older Athlon 1700, 512M RAM and also with an iBook G3 800, 640M RAM. I don't have problems recording 4 tracks of drums simultaneously on either machine. The PC is set for 6ms latency (IIRC, I'm on the iBook right now) and it performs flawlessly. Both use the 6-pin firewire so I haven't even unpacked the external power supply yet in 5 months of use.

I can run upwards of 13-14 tracks of unprocessed audio without a problem. Adding in 1-2 effects per channel plus EQ (running Cubase LE) causes the GUI to get a little stuttery, but no clicks or pops.

Of course, now that I've said that, something's going to crash or go bad ;)
