Computer or Rackmount Recorder?

I'm looking to expand to 24 tracks, and I was wondering if I should get a 24 track set-up for my computer, or buy that new Tascam MX-2424 stand alone unit that I've been lusting over..Any input would be greatly appreciated..Thanks!!

A Fostex DMT-8VL 8 track hard disk recorder, and a Fostex D-5 Dat Recorder.
Also a Compaq Presario with a 10.0 Hard Drive.
