Computer monitor noise

Sorry for this newbie question, but any ideas on how to eliminate noise from my PC monitor? When playing my guitar, which goes into a Digitech RP-7, and then to a Midiman 2044 box, there is an obnoxious hum caused by the PC monitor. I know I can shut the monitor off but that's a problem because I can't see to record since my mixer and everything else is PC oriented.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Howdy,
The first thing that I would do would be to borrow another monitor if you can. Plug the borrowed monitor into your computer. If the buzz goes away your monitor is at fault. If not then you probably have a problem with the video card. Check the card to make shure it is seated in the slot and try it again. It is aslo possible that you have a cord with a bad ground, cold soldier joint, or bad shield.

I hope this helps

My monitor makes my SG hum like Frankenstein's Lab. This is normal.
But if I face the other way and move about 5
feet away from the monitor, it disappears.
Yes this is to some degree inconvenient but it forced me to think about the recording process more analytically and less emotionally. Early on in my use of the computer as a multitracker my gut reaction after capturing a great take was to run for the "stop" control (spacebar) but really- what's the rush? Same thing applies after you hit "record". Any tension you can remove from the recording process will improve your recordings and reduce mistakes. This rushed attitude where one feels not in control without the steering wheel firmly in one's grasp is a holdover from trying to do punch-in on a tape machine. Just doesn't apply in computer recording where everything can be "un-done" or "re-done".

my monitor does the same to ym guitar , but really , whats the rush ?..with all of these fancy software editing programs out there , you can edit out before and after each take with a mouse click.. just turn the monitor off totally after you hit record...learn the keyboard shortcuts... they help too..
