computer help using Nuendo

i can only get four tracks to play with out problems. Here's my setup

705mhz Duron processor
384 MB Ram
30gig
Window Me

Not the best but I still should get more than 4 tracks. Please help
 
yea i know people with 400's getting 16 tracks under nuendo. i've got 64 so far i could get more still. windows ME isn't a good OS for a daw go with 2000 or XP
 
From what I have heard...

Windows Me (out of the box) has some serious issues with data handling, it shows up big time in high end games apparently. I have heard that it is fixable though, click Windows Update in the start menu and install the Critical updates and any other recommended patches to the OS. It seems to help with stability in other areas so maybe it will do the same for audio apps as well.
 
Its definetly Nuendo causing the problem because I just got 13 tracks in Cool Edit. I adjusted the buffers but to no avail. Its funny because I can open multiple projects simulaneously and have them running 4 tracks each. However go over four on one and there's a problem.
 
Yep, I use nuendo. Have for a while now. I think the problem is your O/S. ME just doesn't cut it. You might want to look into some more ram too,,, nuendo is kind of a memory hog.
