Im looking to get a new pc for recording. I'm preety sure i'm going to go with the protools setup and I'm wondering what a decent computer may be to use. I'm looking for it to run fast and smooth with no problems. I've looked at Mac Pros but they seemed a little more than i might need and also are pricey. What do you think would be good for ram 2GB? or more. and also a proscessor( i don't know to much about proscessors and what a good speed is.) Im assuming the graphics card doesnt really matter, i may want two monitors though so possibly it will. Should i go with mac or pc, i have no knowladge with the macs and have never used one. I will not be using the pc for interent or anything else but recording. as for price i dont want to spend to much, i want to keep it around 500$, that about sums it up i hope i explained enough to get a good awnser. I appriciate any help but would prefer it from somone who knows what they are talking about. thank you

edit: I'm sorry if this has been asked before, id look it up but i have dial up and its a pain in the ass.

For $500 the only way you'll get a decent recording computer is to buy one used, or build one from the ground up with newegg.com or some other build your own shop.
Go to this thread and read post #9. Good place to start with ideas.

Also, right now I'm selling a used iMac for $500 on craigslist. We recorded a full 14 song CD on that computer. So if you want easy, that's a possible route. Get on craigslist and start looking through the thousands of used computers for sale in your area.
