Computer CD Writer Vs. Dedicated CD Recorder Machine

I have some friends telling me that using a dedicated CD Recorder to copy CDs rather that a computer's CD Writer will give better sound, clarity and whatnot. This may have been discussed here before but I find that hard to believe. Any comments/discussions on this appreciated.

If you are doing the copies properly, there should be no degrading of the audio using your computer. Actually, I can think of many ways that a stand alone unit could actually be worse, but it doesn't matter. Copy away on your computer! :)
