I have several audio cassette tapes of live performances that I would like to put onto cd with my computer, I have no special recording equip and was wondering if there are any easy (ie cheap) ways to record cassette to computer (besides the obvious microphone)

microphone?!?

Um, stereo cord from the tape player output (headphone jack) to sound card input (line in). Adjust levels to avoid clipping, record in shareware of your choice (Sound Forge is good), enjoy.

i just got a tape deck and a lead which went from both outputs to one jack point and pput it in the line plug in computer .....i recorded thru wavelab and tidied all the starts etc and used a few effects to clean it up it worked ok but the sound qualty was marginally better than the tape...worked ok tho....hope this helped
