Because of my room setup, silence in my DAW won't be as great a concern as it seems to be for some folks. Outside of the noise factor, is a gaming case otherwise suitable for a DAW build? Many gaming cases seem to have good airflow & cooling. [Dust filters would be nice too.]

Thanks

If you are not worried about noise, then a gaming case is fine.

Gaming cases do have good airflow and colling, but they are often noisy.

For me, it wouldn't work, because my computer is where I record. I've got a pretty ordinary case, but I've got a silent power supply and CPU fan.

A gaming case would work fine. 2 intake 120mm fans in front, 1 120mm in back, plus a silent power supply with at least a 120mm fan will not be silent, but would be well under 20db at 4 ft.

The loudest fans within you case is your CPU cooler. I'd recommend an Arctic Freezer Pro rev2. There are plenty of no fan graphics cards available.

NewEgg has great prices, selection and service. I buy all my computer parts there - about $1000 a year.

Those cases with all kinds of air intakes must get a lot of air in there, but I wonder if cases with just a front and back vent/fans might not be better at actually directing the air to particular places. What do you think?

I'm not sure what you are asking.

But I get all the cooling from just two fans . . . the CPU fan and the PSU fan.
