computer amplifier

hello all

just starting to setup a home studio, I've got a Mac G4, and plan to get a Digi001 sound card.

My problem is that I have no clue on which amplifier and speakers to use with my hardware...

I could get one of those computer speakers, but that's ridiculous when you intend to have a semi-professional sound quality...

I would also need some advice on other equipment, like equalizers (do I need them), compressor, mics, etc.
But my main question is the amp.

you'll want some flat response monitor speakers.. you can get passive ones, but you can get powered ones, as well, in which case you wouldn't need an amp.

Do a search for "Monitors" with the poster "sonusman" and you'll find some LENGTHY discussions about it.
